The choir consists of 35 auditioned girls, aged 12 - 20. Cantiamo is open to experiencing a wide variety of repertoire with a strong focus on Canadian composers. Part of the choir's mandate is to allow new composers the opportunity to learn more about their craft while working with experienced choristers. Since its inception, Cantiamo has premiered ten new choral compositions.
Aside from its own concerts, the Cantiamo Girls Choir performs to support community events and has consequently enjoyed performing at the Canada and World Pavilion, Ottawa City Hall , the Ottawa Congress Centre, the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the National Arts Centre. Cantiamo has also participated in Festival 500 in Newfoundland (2005) and the Kaleid Festival in Woodstock (2006, 2007).
